Ingredients

Puff Pastry Base
  • 800 g 800 g puff pastry, thawed if frozen
  • 200 g 200 g herb cream cheese, softened
  • 200 g 200 g smoked salmon, thinly sliced
  • 1 large 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 6 g 6 g white sesame seeds
  • 2 g 2 g salt (for sprinkling, optional)
Garlic Cream Sauce
  • 80 g 80 g unsalted butter
  • 10 g 10 g garlic, minced
  • 25 g 25 g all-purpose flour
  • 200 g 200 g cooking cream (heavy cream)
  • 20 g 20 g fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 50 g 50 g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 g 1 g black pepper
  • 2 g 2 g salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface. Spread the herb cream cheese evenly over the pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  3. Layer the thinly sliced smoked salmon on top of the cream cheese.
  4. Carefully roll the pastry into a tight log. Once rolled, slice the log into rounds, about 1 inch thick.
  5. Place the pastry rounds on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle with white sesame seeds and salt if desired.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and crispy.
Sauce Preparation
  1. While the pastries are baking, prepare the sauce. Melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  2. Stir in the all-purpose flour, cooking for another minute before whisking in the heavy cream. Continue to whisk until the sauce thickens.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper for flavor.
Serving
  1. Once the pastries are done baking, serve them warm with the creamy sauce on the side.

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. You can prepare the filling and roll the pastry ahead of time. Consider adding capers, dill, or lemon juice to the cream cheese for additional flavor.
