  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour (about 24 g)
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar, packed (about 67 g)
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 3/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • pinch salt
Crust
  • 340 g salted butter, melted
  • 360 g all-purpose flour
  • 180 g old-fashioned whole rolled oats
  • 330 g light brown sugar, packed
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 200 g granulated sugar
Topping
  • 85 g salted butter, cubed
  • 125 ml heavy cream
  • 15 ml heavy cream
  • pinch fine sea salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 180℃ (350℉). Spray a 23×33 cm pan with nonstick spray and line with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the ends for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss together the sliced apples with lemon juice, 3 tbsp flour, 1/3 cup brown sugar, 1 tbsp cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, ground cloves, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, melt 340 g of salted butter. Stir in the remaining ingredients for the crust: 360 g flour, 180 g oats, 330 g brown sugar, 1 and 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1/2 tsp salt, and 200 g granulated sugar.
  4. Reserve 240 g of the crust mixture for topping and press the rest into the prepared pan.
Baking
  1. Spoon the apple mixture evenly over the crust and sprinkle the reserved crust mixture on top.
  2. Bake for 38 to 45 minutes, or until golden and apples are tender.
  3. Cool on a wire rack for 1-2 hours before slicing.
  4. Drizzle with salted caramel before serving.

Notes

Serve the Salted Caramel Apple Pie Bars warm or at room temperature, drizzled with warm salted caramel for an extra indulgent treat. They can be enjoyed as a sweet snack or dessert and pair wonderfully with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For added flair, sprinkle some extra sea salt on top right before serving to enhance the salted caramel flavor.
