Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp. ginger paste (or freshly grated ginger)
  • 5 tsp. minced garlic
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • ½ cup soy sauce (low-sodium if preferred)
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup hoisin sauce
  • to taste dash pepper
  • to taste pinch red pepper flakes
  • 1 box (12 oz.) linguini noodles
Optional Garnishes
  • to taste sliced green onions For garnish
  • to taste toasted sesame seeds For garnish

Method

Cook the Noodles
  1. Boil the linguini noodles in salted water according to the package directions. Once tender, drain well and set aside. Toss lightly with a drizzle of oil to keep them from sticking.
Brown the Beef
  1. In a large skillet or wok, add the ground beef and cook over medium-high heat until fully browned. Drain off any excess grease for a lighter sauce.
Add the Aromatics
  1. Stir in the ginger paste and minced garlic. Sauté for about one minute, just until fragrant.
Make the Sauce
  1. Pour in the beef broth, soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and brown sugar. Add a dash of black pepper and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
Simmer and Thicken
  1. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the sauce for 10–15 minutes, allowing it to thicken and coat the back of a spoon.
Combine Everything
  1. Add the cooked noodles to the pan and toss thoroughly until every strand is coated in the sauce. Sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds for garnish.

Notes

Serve with extra chili flakes or a light cucumber salad for a refreshing contrast. For a healthier version, swap ground beef for ground turkey and add more vegetables.
