Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup hazelnuts (about 150g)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder (15g)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar (30g)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (15ml)
  • 1/4 cup milk or dairy-free alternative (60ml)
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil (optional for smoother texture)
  • 1 pinch salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the hazelnuts evenly on a baking sheet and roast for about 10-12 minutes until fragrant and golden.
  2. Once roasted, let the hazelnuts cool slightly. Place them in a kitchen towel and rub them gently to remove the skins.
Blending
  1. In a food processor, blend the hazelnuts until they turn into a smooth paste.
  2. Add the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, milk, and a pinch of salt to the hazelnut paste. Blend until smooth. For creamier Nutella, add vegetable oil and blend again.
Storage
  1. Transfer your homemade Nutella to a jar and store it in the refrigerator. It should last for about two weeks.

Notes

For serving, spread it on toast or waffles, use it as a dip for fruit, drizzle over pancakes, or stir into oatmeal. For texture, add more milk or oil if desired. For flavor, consider adding cinnamon or hazelnut liqueur.
