Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) and line a 20 cm (8 inch) diameter baking dish with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the whipping cream, eggs, garlic powder (or grated fresh garlic), and dried parsley (or chopped fresh) until smooth.
- Slice the bread into medium-thick pieces, around 1.5 cm (½ inch).
- Dip each slice of bread fully in the custard mixture, making sure it’s soaked but not falling apart. Layer the soaked bread pieces in the bottom of the dish, pressing them down gently.
- Sprinkle a generous amount of grated cheese over the bread and scatter half of the chicken pieces on top. Repeat the process with another layer of soaked bread, cheese, and the rest of the chicken.
- Pour any remaining custard mixture over the top layer.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Allow the tart to rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
For serving, this dish pairs beautifully with a crisp salad or warming vegetable soup. Garnish with fresh parsley or extra grated cheese for an appealing presentation.
