Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, ground hazelnuts, sugar, butter, and egg. Mix well until a dough forms.
- Cover the dough and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (about 350°F).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 5 mm thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out cookie shapes.
- Place the cookies on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
- Once the cookies are cool, spread hazelnut spread on half of the cookies and top with the remaining cookies to form sandwiches.
- Melt the white chocolate and carefully drizzle it over the cookies for decoration.
- Top each cookie with a whole hazelnut and serve.
Notes
For a delightful presentation, arrange the cookies on a decorative platter. They pair well with coffee or milk and can be served with fresh fruit or vanilla ice cream. Tips include chilling the dough to maintain shape, storing in an airtight container, and trying variations with different chocolates or adding cinnamon.
