Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 30 g 30 g flaxseeds approx. 1 oz
  • 250 ml 250 ml water approx. 1 cup
  • 60 g 60 g ripe banana or avocado approx. 1/2 banana or for really dry hair
  • 30 ml 30 ml coconut oil approx. 2 tablespoons or argan oil for extra hydration
  • 15 ml 15 ml honey approx. 1 tablespoon, optional for antibacterial benefits

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by boiling the water in a pot and add the flaxseeds.
  2. Stir the mixture continuously until it reaches a gel-like consistency, which usually takes about 5-10 minutes.
  3. Once the gel forms, strain it while it is still hot to remove the flaxseeds.
  4. In a separate bowl, mash the ripe banana and then mix in the coconut oil until well combined. If you're using avocado, mash it similarly.
  5. Add the strained flaxseed gel into the banana (or avocado and oil) mixture and stir until smooth.
Application
  1. Apply the mask to damp, clean hair, ensuring to work from roots to ends for maximum coverage.
  2. Cover your hair with a shower cap and let it sit for about 60 minutes for deep conditioning.
  3. Rinse thoroughly with water and style your hair as usual.

Notes

For optimal results, consider using this mask once a week. Store any leftover flaxseed gel in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat it before applying.
