Ingredients

Ingredients for Coffee Ice Cream
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee (5 grams)
  • 1 tablespoon water (15 milliliters)
  • 250 milliliters pastry cream (about 1 cup) Can replace with heavy cream or thick non-dairy cream for a plant-based option.
  • 30 grams sugar Optional, can be replaced with honey, maple syrup, or sweetener.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the instant coffee with water until homogeneous.
  2. Add the pastry cream and sugar (or substitute) to a bottle with a tight lid.
  3. Pour in the dissolved coffee mixture and shake vigorously for 1-2 minutes to mix.
  4. Place the bottle in the freezer for 30 minutes.
  5. Check the ice cream by shaking the bottle; if there's no sound of liquid, it’s ready.
  6. Leave at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before serving to develop a creamy texture.

Notes

Serve in chilled bowls or cones, garnished with chocolate shavings, caramel sauce, or cocoa powder. Pairs well with espresso or whipped cream. Can be used as filling for desserts like pies or cakes. Store in the freezer for up to 2 weeks, tightly sealed.
