Ingredients

For the Muffins
  • 100 g Schmand (about ½ cup sour cream)
  • 125 g butter (room temperature, about ½ cup)
  • 200 g flour (about 1 ⅔ cups)
  • 30 g sugar (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 50 g sugar (for the cinnamon mixture, about ¼ cup)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, beat the butter with 30 g of sugar until it becomes creamy and fluffy.
  2. Add the Schmand and mix well until everything is thoroughly combined.
  3. Gradually fold in the flour until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.
  5. Once chilled, dust your work surface with a little flour and roll the dough to about 4-5 mm thick.
  6. Use a star-shaped cutter to cut out cookies from the dough and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake the cookies in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 10-12 minutes or until they turn light brown.
  8. While the cookies cool, mix the cinnamon and the remaining 50 g of sugar in a shallow bowl.
  9. Immediately coat the warm cookies in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  10. Serve on a lovely plate, sprinkled with a touch of powdered sugar for that perfect finishing touch.

Notes

These muffins are best enjoyed fresh from the oven. Serve with fruit or whipped cream for an extra treat. Consider a cup of coffee or tea to accompany them!
