Method
Preparation
- Combine the ground meat, eggs, breadcrumbs, grated cheese, diced onion, and minced garlic in a large bowl. Season with salt, black pepper, sweet paprika, and Italian herbs, and mix well.
- Divide the mixture into 6-8 portions and form them into flat patties. Dredge each patty in flour.
Cooking the Patties
- Heat the butter in a pan over medium heat and fry the patties for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Once cooked, set aside.
Preparing the Mashed Potatoes
- Boil the diced potatoes in water until soft. Drain the potatoes, then add melted butter and warm milk. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt to taste.
Making the Cream Sauce
- In the same pan used for the patties, sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until translucent.
- Add the flour and stir for a minute. Slowly stir in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer.
- Return the patties to the cream sauce and let them simmer on low heat for 30 minutes.
Serving
- Plate a generous portion of mashed potatoes, place the cheese-filled meat patties on top, and spoon the creamy sauce over them. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
You can prepare the cheese-filled meat patties in advance and refrigerate them until you're ready to fry them. Substitute heavy cream with a mixture of milk and sour cream for a lighter sauce. Feel free to experiment with different cheeses like Gouda, Swiss, or even feta for variations.
