Preparation
- Peel and boil the potatoes in salted water until tender (about 20 minutes). Once cooked, drain and allow them to cool slightly.
- Using a grater, shred the boiled potatoes into a large mixing bowl.
- Add the finely chopped shallot (or onion), grated carrot, and chopped parsley to the grated potatoes.
- Cube the smoked cheese and gently fold it into the potato mixture.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and mix in the plain yogurt until smooth.
- Pour the egg-yogurt mixture over the potato mixture and stir until well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper, then gradually add the wheat flour, stirring until you have a slightly sticky batter.
- In a frying pan, heat enough oil over medium heat for shallow frying.
Cooking
- Using a spoon, scoop out portions of the potato batter and gently drop them into the hot oil.
- Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the fried potato balls and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Serving
- Enjoy the Battered Cheese Potato Balls warm as an appetizer or side dish.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of paprika or garlic powder to the batter.
