Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin wedges. In a mixing bowl, combine the apple slices with sugar and cinnamon, tossing until evenly coated.
- Roll out each sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch (3 mm) thickness; make sure not to overwork the dough.
- Cut each sheet into squares or rectangles, roughly 4 to 6 inches wide.
Assembly
- Place a generous spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each pastry piece, ensuring not to overfill them.
- Fold over the pastry to create a triangle or rectangle and press the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges, which helps keep the filling from leaking out.
- Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the top of each pastry for that golden finish.
Baking
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they’re puffed and golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy them warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Drizzle a little caramel sauce over the top before serving for an extra sweet touch. Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days.
