  • 2 tablespoons butter Melted for brushing
For Steamed Sweet Potatoes
  • 4 medium sweet potatoes (about 1.5 pounds or 680 g) Wash and scrub well
  • 2 tablespoons salt For soaking
  • Water For soaking and steaming

Method

Air Fryer Sweet Potatoes
  1. Wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly under running water and scrub with a toothbrush for dirt.
  2. Make a few small piercings on each sweet potato with a knife to help steam escape.
  3. Brush the sweet potatoes with melted butter to ensure even coating.
  4. Place the sweet potatoes in the air fryer, set to 200°C (about 400°F), and cook for 30 minutes.
  5. Check doneness by inserting a fork; it should slide in easily.
  6. Serve and enjoy the crispy goodness!
Steamed Sweet Potatoes
  1. Soak sweet potatoes in a bowl of water with 2 tablespoons of salt for about 15 minutes.
  2. Scrub the sweet potatoes again to ensure cleanliness.
  3. Place in a steamer basket over boiling water, cover, and steam for about 20 minutes.
  4. Check for tenderness halfway through to avoid overcooking.
  5. Peel the skins off while warm and serve with or without toppings.

Notes

For best results, space air-fried sweet potatoes to ensure even cooking. Add lemon juice or cinnamon for flavor to steamed potatoes. Adjust cooking times based on sweet potato size.
